Sustainable Business Model
Since 2006 we’ve providing software via a perpetual license model. It has proven to be extremely difficult to sustain this, as Apple releases new versions of their OS on a yearly basis, many times requiring months of work to have the apps “just work” on the next OS.
We have therefore decided to sell new apps via an annual licensing & billing model. We don’t offer monthly subsciptions at this time.
Is this a subscription?
For SWB Audio (and other apps), Yes.
After your trial ends, you will be billed up front for the first year, then again after that period has elapsed. You will be shown the exact amounts you will be billed (and the billing frequency) during the checkout process, before you are asked to enter your payment information.
How can I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription from your SWB Account page. You may cancel your subscription any time. If you cancel before your trial expires, you will not be billed any amount.
Go to your profile page to manage subscriptions.
What happens when I cancel my subscription?
When you cancel your subscription, you will continue to have full access to the product until the end of your current billing period. After that, to use the product, you would need to re-subscribe.
Note: There are no pro-rated refunds for annual plans. Once you have been billed, your subscription will remain active until the end of that billing cycle.
How many Macs is one subscription good for?
You can use the product on up to four personal Macs belonging to you personally. Each subscription can be used by one person; if you plan to use the product in a family, each family member will need their own subscription.
If you are using the product in a business, each employee needs their own subscription. For example, you can not use the same subscription on two Macs used by different employees.
How can I get my local tax (VAT/GST etc) deducted from my purchase?
Assuming you are a business customer:
- Login to your SWB Account
- Go to the Subscriptions tab, and click 'Stripe Portal'
- Click on "Update information", enter your tax ID at the bottom of the page
- Redownload any billing history / invoices you need from the same page. They will now have your updated billing information on them.
Your receipt email contains a link to e.g. customize your address in the receipt and enter your VAT ID if present.
Once you have entered your VAT ID there, you should automatically receive a VAT refund within a few days if you are based outside the United Kingdom. If the VAT refund does not arrive, please contact help *at* paddle.com with your VAT information and receipt number so that our payment provider can refund the VAT for you.
Note that our payment provider is based in the UK. Thus, UK-based businesses can not have VAT deducted this way but can get it refunded from the UK tax authorities instead.
