Are you looking to:
- Save content from a limited time course, for your own viewing later?
- Save footage from a live event?
- Make a backup of some content for yourself, locally?
Well, have I got a deal for you!
Recording content from a browser is REALLY easy in iShowU V6. In this article I'll show you how.
What you're going to need:
- iShowU V6 (see https://shinywhitebox.com/ishowu-v6)
- Something you want to record
For this demo, I'm going to use a YouTube video. But the same approach will work for all non-DRM (digital rights management) content.
First step is to tell iShowU what area you want.
- Open up your browser and go to the content you want to record.
- If you have multiple displays, make sure to set iShowU to record from the correct display. Here, I'm using an external 32" panel.
- Click the crop icon to set the recording area, and drag that around where the video is, in the browser
- Make sure that record application audio is enabled in iShowU
- That's it! You're now ready.
You can preview what your clip is going to look like using show preview & layout.
Here are two other tips that might come in useful:
- If you know the duration of the content you're recording, you can set a timer in iShowU.
- Second, if you run over time, or want to clean up the front of the clip - that's really easy. iShowU has a built in trim function. See How to Trim a recording
