Q: Why is this transition happening?
A: We believe that using license keys instead of having to remember a username and password is a much simpler and easier process.
Q: What is the licensing transition in iShowU Studio?
A: From iShowU Studio version 1.6.0 onwards we are changing how we handle licenses. Previously you would activate your license using your shinywhitebox account and password. With the new system, you just need your email address and license key.
Q: What does this mean for existing customers?
A: If you are already using an activated version of iShowU Studio, don't worry; you don't need to do anything. iShowU Studio will continue to work as it currently does. However if you wish to install iShowU Studio on another computer then you will need to use your email address and license key.
Q: What does this mean for new customers?
A: New customers will still be able download and use a trial version of iShowU Studio, it just means the purchase process will be a little different and they will actually receive a license key when they purchase. For more information on purchasing iShowU Studio see this article, and for trialling iShowU Studio, see this article.
Q: How do I find out my license key?
A: Existing users of iShowU Studio should have received an email containing their new license key, but if not you can go to this page and enter your email address to receive license keys for all of your shinywhitebox purchases. For more information see this article.
Q: What's the difference between my shinywhitebox account and my Paddle account?
A: Your shinywhitebox account is used for our legacy products (Stomp, iShowU, iShowU HD/Pro) while your Paddle account is used for our modern products (iShowU Instant, iShowU Studio). See this article for more information.
Q: Which versions of iShowU Studio does this apply to?
A: iShowU Studio versions 1.6.0 and higher will use the new licensing method.
